Making things concretizes ideas to share with others, and it allows me to experience them in-person. This is why I love Art.
But one of my professors, Erik Stolterman, succinctly framed: “Art is Design without functionality.” I want to create things that are helpful, as well as beautiful, and this is why I feel closer to UX.
I still love Art, and it has been a hugely important influence on my Design work. I explore methods and strategies like artistic mediums, sticking with what works and iterating on what doesn’t.
